Location: Oxfordshire

Salary: £35,745 – £42,403

Position Type: Full Time

Contract Type: Permanent

Closing Date: 23/02/2024

About us
Oxfordshire Youth Justice & Exploitation Service is a multi-agency partnership committed to preventing and reducing youth crime and exploitation in the County of Oxfordshire. We are passionate about improving outcomes for children, families and victims of crime and working according to the Child First principles.

About the role
As a Youth Justice & Exploitation Worker you will hold a case-load of children, designing and delivering interventions designed to support desistance from crime and help our children achieve their potential within the youth justice side of our service. You will support children on community disposals and in custody on remand and custodial sentences. This is an excellent opportunity for you to make a real difference to the lives of young people, families, and victims and join a dynamic and fast-paced service that is constantly striving to learn, improve and innovate.

Our YJES workers participate in rotas for Court and Bail and you will be required to work occasional evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays to meet the needs of the service and our children and families. The service is county-wide and the role requires travel across Oxfordshire to see our children and families in their homes, local communities, school and community venues.

About you
You will have a sound understanding of child development, criminogenic risk and need, and youth justice statutory requirements around public protection. You will be an experienced practitioner with the ability to pick up a case-load and work effectively in a range of professional environments, including Court. You will care about the lives of some of Oxfordshire’s most vulnerable children and adolescents and be committed, tenacious and persistent in striving for positive outcomes and ensuring their rights are upheld.

To be considered for this opportunity you will have a Level 5 qualification/recognised professional qualification (or equivalent) in a related subject: youth justice, education, youth work, health, probation, prison service, police, OR a Professional Social Work Qualification.
