Youth Justice Transitions Worker – Oxfordshire County Council

Location: Oxfordshire

Salary: £34,509 – £41,082

Position Type: Full Time

Contract Type: Temporary

Closing Date: 24/05/2024

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Youth Justice and Exploitation Service for an experienced Probation Officer or Youth Justice Worker to join the team to work with those older adolescents who are transitioning across to Probation.

About you

You will have a passion for working with this cohort of young people and be confident in working with partners to manage risk and vulnerability.

You will be skilled at engaging older adolescents and families and have experience of both the Youth Justice and Probation Services and be confident in using recording systems and understand youth and adult legislative frameworks. You will have a sound understanding of adolescents and young adults involved in the criminal justice system and commit to practice according to the YJB’s Child First principles. Whilst this role will focus on children aged between 17 – 19, we see children as children and work with them in accordance with their rights, regardless of how close they are to legal adulthood.

You will support young people who receive Youth Justice Court Orders and who turn 18 during the course of their Order and need to transition to adult services in both the community and in custody.

You will take part in the Court and Bail duty rota which includes Saturdays and Bank Holidays and as a service we cover the whole of Oxfordshire, so you would need a full driving license and access to a vehicle.

Please note that this role is fixed-term for 3 years, at which point the NPS funding for the role will be reviewed.
