Oxfordshire County Council – Youth Justice Services Oxfordshire Youth Justice Service is a dynamic and forward-thinking multi-agency partnership committed to preventing and reducing youth crime in the County of Oxfordshire. We are passionate about improving outcomes for justice-involved children, families and victims of crime and are driven in our practice by the Child First framework and our values. You would be joining a team of professionals who come to work each day to make things better for our children and those harmed by their behaviour. We are proud of the service we provide in partnership for our children, and are fiercely motivated to address barriers and challenges in our systems including equity of access to services for vulnerable and minoritised communities and victims, disproportionate overrepresentation of Black and Mixed Heritage children in our justice system, and improving education outcomes for children with SEND along with other core priorities as outlined in our Youth Justice Annual Plan. Oxfordshire Youth Justice Service is currently being relocated under an umbrella of teams as part of the development of a new ‘adolescent offer’ for Oxfordshire’s children. This is an exciting time to join the service as we align with colleagues in Targeted Youth Work and Exploitation to enhance our responses across prevention, diversion and around harm outside the home. The Role: This role is one of two Assistant Team Managers within the service who report to the Team Manager for Youth Justice. This role has supervisory responsibility for between 5-7 case-managers, with direct oversight of and responsibility for excellence in case-management practice. The post-holder is required to undertake reflective, high quality supervision of staff on a monthly basis alongside regular quality assurance of youth justice assessments, plans and reports. This Assistant Team Manager role has lead area oversight of Court, Custody, Transitions, and Resettlement. The other Assistant Team Manager is part-time and has lead responsibility for Out of Court and our Joint Decision-Making Panel. Assistant Team Managers support the Team Manager with auditing and performance reporting and can be required to prepare and present service reports to a range of audiences including the Management Board. Our Assistant Team Managers support the Team Manager in work-load monitoring and management and allocation of case-loads and resources, and are also required to participate in the Duty Manager rota which can involve evening and weekend working on an occasional basis. Whilst we are working in an agile way and there are opportunities to work from home, the post-holder is expected to be available in County on a regular basis for face-to-face commitments and travel across the County of Oxfordshire is required. We are looking for a highly experienced youth justice professional who is looking for the next step in their career development into management. We are particularly keen to hear from current Senior Practitioners or those in similar roles. For further information and to apply for the role(s) please see here. |
