Biography – Sam Fahey

Biography

Sam has been working with children and their families for over 30 years. Following her childhood experiences growing up in a family that fostered, she started her career as a Residential Social Worker, engaging and caring for some of the most challenging care-experienced children in Bristol & Somerset, including children within the Youth Justice context. After time working abroad in Australia and New Zealand Sam returned to Somerset and has since driven work across Early Help and Preventative Services.

 

Sam has led teams in being creative and dynamic with a community response to unmet needs in Children’s Centres, Education and the Local Authority, and a key leader and driver of Somerset’s response to the Troubled Families initiative. Since 2018 Sam has developed a collaborative “Prevention and Youth Justice” service offer in Somerset alongside a dynamic Youth Justice Partnership Board. Her holistic and broad experience significantly enhances Somerset’s offer especially in promoting practice within the ‘Child First’ approach. 

 

Sam’s passion for sustained change for children, families and communities underpins all of her work and she is really excited to bring her rich heritage, into the Association of YOT Managers, as the deputy regional representative for the Southwest.
