Biography – Lesley Tregear


Biography

Lesley has 25 years of experience in youth justice, having started as a social worker in the Juvenile Justice Team in Warwickshire.

Lesley’s experiences also include two secondments with the YJB Wiring Up Youth Justice Programme. And the Programme Management of a national project Ryogens, an IT system developed to enable sharing of safeguarding concerns.

Safeguarding young people and ensuring young offenders are seen as young people first is fundamental to her approach to her work and a principal she encourages others to adopt.

Lesley developed the Family Intervention Service in Warwickshire which became the foundation of Warwickshire’s Troubled Families initiative; ensuring parents of young people receive the support they need to help their child and manage them within their home.

Recognition of Lesley’s commitment to partnership working resulted in her appointment as Chair of the Local Criminal Justice Board, having been part of the design team for the multi-agency Justice Centres in Warwickshire which deliver effective joined up justice.

Lesley also developed the Warwickshire CSE Strategy on behalf of the Local Safeguarding Children Board and in 2015 was asked to lead the development and implementation of the Warwickshire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) which manages safeguarding referrals for children and adults.

Lesley has maintained her commitment to social work throughout the years and is the Vice Chair of Warwickshire’s Adoption Panel, ensuring her experiences span a wide field within children’s services.

Outside of work Lesley likes to spend time on the water, sailing or just bobbing about. She is also a folk musician and Assistant Director of Warwick Folk Festival – come along and join her the last weekend in July!
