Youth Justice Frontline Leaders course agreement

Learning Objectives:  

  1. Engage with current research and practice examples of contemporary issues within Youth Justice 
  1. Critically reflect on intended areas for development as a Frontline Leader including, reviewing strengths and current competence / confidence 
  1. Prepare and implement a personal development plan to benefit me as a Frontline Leader and the organisation I represent. 

Agreement  

  • We have read and understood the learning objectives for the YJSIP Frontline Leaders Course.  
  • Participants have the correct seniority to attend (I.e., are an active frontline leader such as Senior Practitioner, Team Manager or equivalent and have responsibility for supervising staff). 
  • Participants will undertake pre and post course activities including workshop evaluations.   
  • We understand that the course consists of two full day workshops and a 12-week distance learning element (designed to take not more than three hours per week). We commit to the participant undertaking the course in full. 
  • We understand that to support learning and development that participants will be asked to link with a ‘Peer Buddy’ outside of the formal workshops (every 3 weeks for 1 hour) 
  • Participants will access relevant information linked to the workshops via SharePoint.  
  • We understand that the work email addresses of course participants will be seen by / with other participants in the same cohort, for the purposes of sharing information and supporting each other. 
  • Where workshops are delivered via video conferencing (MS Teams) we understand and accept the requirement to join the workshop using a PC/ laptop rather than a phone/tablet and to keep a camera on while the workshop is in progress. 
  • Participants are expected to respect the ground rules, engage in workshop and breakout room activities and will keep cameras on when participating virtually. 
  • As participants you will be supported by your organisation to attend fully (free of commitments such as the need to respond to operational activities).   
  • To support the participant in their learning, we agree that time will be agreed and allowed each week, to complete the necessary workbook content and for discussion, where necessary, with the facilitators and/or Line Manager to embed the content/learning. 
  • Participants will respect confidentiality.  
  • We understand that a Certificate of Continued Professional Development will only be issued once the participant has completed the course in full including providing feedback. 
  • Non-attendance, without prior notice/reasonable excuse, will incur the costs to our organisation, associated with delivering this training at a rate of £200 per workshop day (we are a grant funded partnership and cannot justify providing services that are then not utilised by participants). 
  • Finally, we understand that this course is delivered by serving sector leaders who are freely giving up their time. We agree that participants should be expected to participate in a way which demonstrates an enthusiastic commitment to their development as managers/leaders.
